Take a screen break that actually feels like a break

Switching from a laptop to a phone may change the content without changing the demands on your attention. A different kind of pause can be worth trying.

Move away from the feed

Choose a short activity with a natural endpoint, such as getting water. Avoid opening another stream of updates by habit.

Let the body change position

Stand or move gently if comfortable and accessible to you. A seated adjustment can also provide a change.

Return with one clear task

Write the next action before resuming. A break is easier to end when the return point is defined.

Try this today

After the next completed task, spend two minutes away from the screen and notice whether you want to repeat it.
