Rest & Sleep

Create a restful corner without buying a new lifestyle

A place to pause can be an ordinary chair near a window. The useful feature is that it supports an activity you find restorative, not that it resembles a photograph.

An illustrative wellbeing scene

Illustrative photography, not a photograph of a reported event. Photo credits.

Remove one practical obstacle

Clear enough space to sit comfortably. Keep a book, blanket or glass of water nearby if you actually use it.

Work with shared space

A portable basket or a short agreed quiet period may be more realistic than a dedicated room. Respect other people’s needs too.

Leave room for change

Some days you may prefer music or movement. Rest does not have to happen in one position or location.

Try this today

Choose a comfortable existing spot and spend five minutes there without shopping for anything.

General wellbeing information, not medical advice. Yoga may not suit every condition. For pregnancy, injuries or health concerns, ask a qualified clinician and instructor about individual adaptations. Stop any practice that causes pain, dizziness or distress. NCCIH: yoga safety and evidence.
