Build a quiet transition between work and home

The end of work does not always produce an immediate change in attention. A small transition can help mark the shift without requiring an elaborate evening routine.

Close the practical loop

Write down tomorrow’s first task so you do not need to keep rehearsing it. Let colleagues know when you will next be available.

Change one sensory cue

Step outside, wash your hands or change clothes. Choose something available in your actual living situation.

Keep the pause modest

Sit comfortably for a minute or notice the room around you. If stillness feels uncomfortable, a gentle walk is another option.

Try this today

Pick one transition cue and repeat it for three workdays. Evaluate whether it feels useful rather than whether you performed it perfectly.
